4th of July

This weekend turned out to be a good weekend. It started with several meetings and a walk in a park on July 4th. The walk in the park was a peaceful and serene day with people from the program. We all treaded carefully about certain topics out of respect for one another and fear that perhaps we may cross a boundary. This was strange - in a good way - an unexpected way . . . and frankly, very nice. When we did talk we exposed our frailties and spoke truthfully. There was no judgment, no evaluation - just being who we are.

This walk made this day one of the more special days that I can remember.

It's nice to just be who you are and laugh. It is/was the laughter that makes it things even better - for I love to laugh and love to see others laughing.

That's all for now.

It's OK to be just me today.

Not somebody else, or somebody that I think I need to be, for somebody else.

Like Popeye used to say, "I yam what I yam"....

I had a nice fourth with some program people as well. More AA's than Al-Anoners but that was fine. It was a nice party, and I was glad to be there.

Yeah, me too. I spent with a family who is working program. Not everything went smoothly or was perfect, but everyone seemed really happy. I was happy and it was awesome.

AA and Al anon have become my family. I love my family and love being with them. They love me unconditionally. They accept me warts and all. They make me laugh, they give me hope, they lift me up, they carry me when I am down. They never criticize me or judge me,they don't yell at me or tell me to F. Off, they allow me to be me. The best family I ever dreamed of. No wander I enjoy being with them so much. The 4th was spent in an Alanon and Aa mtgs, 2 potlucks, my dauhgter and a host of friends. It was perfect. Thank God for this program that has saved my life and given me one as well.
